Covington native James East makes plans to contend for the 2024 Grand National Hooligan Championship!
With a background in racing sportbikes all across the east coast Covington GA local James East will be competing in the Grand National Hooligan Flattrack aboard a Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200.
"It all started after attending a flat track race at the Smokey Mountain Speedway." says Covington resident, East.

"There was hundreds of spectators that showed up. I've never seen anything like it for a one off 'outlaw' race in the middle of nowhere. When I was walking around the grandstands I asked a spectator what brought all these people out? She told me 'We heard there was a bunch of Harleys racing this weekend and since we all rode Harleys we figured we should come check it out!'"
"That's when the gears started turning", said East a veteran motorcycle racer of 10+ years. "This is a sport that the average person is getting behind, and I want to get in on it."
With the power of Facebook Marketplace at his hands East drove twelve hours round trip to western Tennesee to pick up a Harley Sportster to begin the conversion process. Over the coming months East will convert a street legal Sportster into a fire breathing flat track machine. "We're going to try and get it looking like the picture (below) and try to get as much seat time over the winter", states East.

East will be funding the 2024 season from the marketing work he does for local and national companies. "Businesses are paying big bucks for things like billboards that don't convert. I work with those businesses one on one to develop a marketing plan that will hit their target demographic and I deliver measurable results. I couldn't do this every weekend without the local support" East tells us.
